For the first lip-sync, the queens will all lip-sync to “Bring Back My Girls” by RuPaul, with only their faces showing. The final three queens will then all lip-sync alone to a song of their choice. As Crystal put it to ET, “I’m friends with all the girls, but for some reason, and I were able to connect really well. Peppermint won a maxi challenge on Drag Race and lip synced for her life two times, sending home Cynthia Lee Fontaine and Alexis Michelle. Jinkx Monsoon won the coveted Snatch Game as well as an acting challenge during season five of Drag Race. Besides those two maxi challenge wins, the Seattle queen lip synced for her life once, against Detox, right before the finale – where Monsoon was crowned America’s Next Drag Superstar. The winner of season four, Sharon Needles, became the first queen in Drag Race herstory to win four maxi challenges during a singular season.
Due to lockdown, the final will not be filmed in front of a live studio audience, but instead will happen around the US. Now, the queens have previously joked that they are ‘lesbians together’, and it could be that they are just playing up to the cameras with the romance ‘storyline’. And during the remote reunion, we finally got an answer to whether they are dating… sort of. Gigi completed her Drag Race run with a deeper sense of self and confidence in her art, the support of her parents and a somethingship that defies defining. “Once that piece of the puzzle finally came in, it was like a liberation,” says Gigi, then shrugs. “He doesn’t know anything about drag, so there’s nothing to talk to him about it. But he’ll listen and he’ll understand and respect, and that’s something I never thought that I would get from him.”

Next week, the queens will have to face off against each other and Jaida Essence Hall to be crowned America’s next drag superstar and season 12 champ. The two finalists have never actually hinted at their romance on the show, but the queens sharing a sweet peck during the red, white and blue runway challenge sent rumours spiralling. Not only do I think Jaida deserves the crown, but I’m even willing to forgive her for not knowing who Rose Nylund is.
